About the Programme

Teaching and Childcare in the Heart of Cape Town’s Communities

The SAVE Foundation School & Educare Project is a community-based teaching and childcare volunteer programme placing volunteers in pre-schools within disadvantaged communities in and around Cape Town, Western Cape. Volunteers work directly alongside local teachers to support early childhood development, education, and care.

This programme is ideal for individuals who want to make a direct, meaningful impact on children’s lives — helping them learn through play, structured activities, and daily care. No prior teaching or childcare experience is required.

The programme begins with a 2-day orientation in Cape Town, where volunteers are introduced to the communities, the schools, safety guidelines, and the support structure in place throughout their stay.

Why it matters

South Africa faces significant early childhood development challenges, particularly in under-resourced communities. Quality care and stimulation in the first five years of a child’s life have a lasting impact on health, education, and social outcomes. Every volunteer makes that impact real.
